The territory of the Euganean has been a destination for travelers since the Grand Tour, thanks to the presence of the thermal baths and it has been also the house of Petrarch in Arquà.
During the Renaissance period the fashion of the holidays in Euganean Hills started with the construction of the Venetian villas and, during the Enlightenment period, botanists, geologists, naturalists and poets attended these places attracted by the environmental particularities.
You are in the green heart of Veneto, at the center of its cycle paths that branch out like a complex net that covers a vast territory that is waiting to you to be lived, photographed, tasted!
1st day Galzignano Terme
Arrival in the afternoon and check in. You can have a dinner in the garden if the weather permits, or we can suggest you some local restaurants.
2nd day Villa dei Vescovi and Abbazia di Praglia 40 km by bike
The circular bike tour follows cycle paths and secondary roads to arrive at the magnificent Villa dei Vescovi, now owned by the FAI Fondo Ambiente Italiano. Villa dei Vescovi is a noble residence inspired by classic themes, which dialogues with the external landscape thanks to the frescoes of its loggias and interiors.
After a while to relax In the garden of the Villa, you will reach the Praglia Abbey, the most important Benedictine monastery in the and Euganean Hills. There the monks pray, work and restore ancient books. In their shop you will find the wine, the honey and the cosmetics that they produce.
Take all the time you need, stop whenever you want, the landscapes here are lovely. Also discover food and wine tradition and local products such as volcanic wines and olive oil.
Stop for the last visit of the day at the Catajo Castle, the currently most visited private Villa in the Veneto, a real palace with original Renaissance frescoes, which has hosted for centuries extravagant parties and illustrious guests.
3rd day Arquà Petrarca and Valsanzibio 30 km by bike
You will follow the same road that Francesco Petrarca traveled from Padua to reach his home in Arquà at the end of the fourteenth century.
You will reach the walled city of Monselice and then Arquà Petrarca, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, where you can taste the famous Brodo di Giuggiule, the local liquor.
The route then will take you to the Lispida Castle and to the Garden of Valsanzibio, also called “the little Versailles of the Euganean Hills” that is the third most beautiful baroque garden in Europe thanks to its beautiful labyrinth, statues and fountains.
