Chioggia, the ancient salt capital

Immersion in the history and in the nature of the amazing Venetian lagoon with visit to Chioggia, undeterred rival of Venice and ancient salt capital in the Mediterranean Sea.

The city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, preserves still today the charm of the old boatyards and of a historic fish market. From the Chioggia harbor, the Venetian lagoon stretches out in a placid landscape, with its green coasts and Venetian fortifications.

Itinerary: Arrival to Chioggia. San Francesco, Porta San Marco, Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Corso del Popolo, House of Goldoni, architect of the Venetian theater reform, Piazza XX Settembre with the Monte di Pietà and the Town Hall, piazza Granary, fish market, S. Andrea, piazzetta Vigo, island of San Domenico, the Canal Lombardo bank with a view of the sites of the historic Chioggia salt-works and on the bragozzo, a typical boat of Chioggia.

Meeting point: Campo Marconi, in front of the South Lagoon Museum (ex convent of San Francesco)

Duration: 3 hours

Price: € 60 adult per person. €42 child (6-12 years). Child under 6 years free. Including tourist guide, aperitif in local bar.
