Padua is known for its cultural and architectural attractions, but this city is related also to the great scientific discoveries of the mankind, thanks to his important university background.
Accompanied by a guide, you will discover the oldest university botanical garden in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997. A place of observation and study of an incredible variety of plant species, preserved in special rooms that simulate temperature and humidity of the biomes of the planet, it is a real garden of biodiversity!
You will then move to visit places related to important facts in science and medicine, studies, research and knowledge. At Palazzo Bo you will visit the Anatomical Theater, where, until 1872, the lectures on medicine and anatomy were held in front of the bodies for autopsies.
The halls of the Palace. used for academic lessons in the past, are still decorated with frescoes and mosaics. Galileo Galilei also taught at Bo for 10 years and we find his original chair in the Sala dei Quaranta, so called to indicate the 40 most famous students, whom portraits you can admire on the walls. Many students attended the lessons of the scientist, the only one at the time who could also use the prestigious Aula Magna, which today takes his name.
Finally, to feel a real Paduan, don’t miss the opportunity to drink the Paduan spritz, the aperitif invented in Padua and become famous in many parts of the world!
