DAY 2 – ARQUÀ PETRARCA, VALSANZIBIO AND VILLA DEI VESCOVI (45 km, elevation gain 250 m)
Today, you’ll follow part of the route that Francesco Petrarca used to travel from Padua to his residence in Arquà at the end of the 14th century. You’ll have the chance to walk around this charming medieval village, which still retains its ancient allure. Among the points of interest today are the Valsanzibio Gardens, also known as “the little Versailles of the Euganean Hills,” and Villa dei Vescovi, a noble residence inspired by classical themes.During the day, a wine tasting at a local winery is included.
DAY 3 – PADUA AND THE BACCHIGLIONE RIVER (40 km – no elevation gain)
Through pleasant countryside roads, you’ll reach the eclectic Villa Emo Capodilista, now known for the quality of wines produced on its estates. A little further, you’ll meet the Bacchiglione River, which will lead you to Padua along a beautiful bike path built along its banks. By bike, you’ll enter Padua from Prato della Valle, visiting the Basilica of Saint Anthony and the historic city center with its squares, the University, and the famous Caffè Pedrocchi. Lunch and free time to explore the city before returning to the hotel in the afternoon.
DAY 4 – THE LOOP OF THE EUGANEAN HILLS (65 km, elevation gain +70 m)
A completely flat bike path winds around the volcanic heights of the Euganean Hills. Pedal through walled cities like Monselice and Este, river villages like Battaglia Terme and Marendole, the Praglia Abbey, castles, and Venetian villas. As the day progresses, ever-changing landscapes will pass by. You’ll cycle along the banks of ancient waterways that once transported goods from the Euganean Hills to Venice: corn, wheat, sugar beets, barrels of wine, olive oil, Arquà jujubes, chestnuts, and especially the trachyte stone extracted from the hills, the volcanic rock used to pave Piazza San Marco in Venice. Lunch today will be at a local agriturismo.

Depart by bike toward Padua, circling the city along the outer canals. You’ll take the Piovego Canal, which leads to Stra on the Brenta Canal. The majestic Villa Pisani welcomes you in the Riviera, which continues with a series of villas up to Malcontenta. Cross the center of Dolo with its boatyard and ancient mill built on an island in the canal. Continuing, you’ll pass through the towns of Mira and Oriago, ending at Villa Malcontenta.
