DAY 1 – ARRIVAL IN BASSANO DEL GRAPPA
Arrival and accommodation in hotel.
DAY 2 – THE HILLS OF THE CHERRY TREES BETWEEN MAROSTICA AND BREGANZE (45 km – elevation gain 270 m)
From the bridge of the Alpini today you cycle to the town of Marostica, whose tradition is linked to the game of chess with living figures that takes up the legend of the beautiful Lionora, daughter of the local lord. The historic center is characterized by the large square with the chessboard, the two castles and the still intact medieval walls. Continue through gentle hills lined with cherry trees to arrive at Breganze, land of great wines, famous for the renowned sweet wine Torcolato. The landscape is enchanting, with views of the Piccole Dolomiti and the plain of Vicenza. After a wine tasting you will take the way back to Bassano.
DAY 3 – THE WALLED TOWNS OF CASTELFRANCO E CITTADELLA (60 km – elevation gain 150 m)
Today’s ride leads to the ancient territory of the “Marca Trevigiana“. Leaving Bassano along country roads you will reach the Ezzelini cycle path, which takes its name from the influential family that in the Middle Ages dominated these lands. This quiet path runs along the river Muson and will soon take you to the beautiful city of Castelfranco Veneto, birthplace of the famous Renaissance painter Giorgione, where we can admire the masterpiece of the Madonna di Castelfranco displayed in the cathedral. The next stop is the walled city of Cittadella with its unique medieval walls that can be fully covered. After visiting the treasures of this city you will take the road back to Bassano.
DAY 4 – AT THE FOOT OF MOUNT GRAPPA IN CANOVA BETWEEN POSSAGNO AND ASOLO (50 km – altitude difference 580 m)
The first part of the route winds at the foot of Monte Grappa through a rise and fall of foothills. A gentle climb will take you to Borso del Grappa, where the grandeur of Monte Grappa will make you feel small. In front of you the spectacle of the Asolo hills that contain the valley of Monfumo. Continue towards Possagno, the birthplace of the sculptor Canova, to which he was always attached. The neoclassical Canovian Temple is the setting for this stop. After the break we will continue to Asolo. Loved by poets and artists, the city is rich in art, history and culture and offers visitors different places to visit and discover. Before returning, stop in a cellar to taste a glass of delicious Prosecco Asolo DOCG.
